Severna Park's Farmers Market Ends Its Season. Ritchie Highway Has New Places for Saturday Morning

  • October 22, 2026

This Saturday, October 31, is the last day of the 2026 season for the Severna Park Farmers Market. It runs 8 a.m. to noon at the Park & Ride on Ritchie Highway at Jones Station Road. This fall, the market's closing lines up with something new. In September, two new food businesses opened on Ritchie Highway, and one of them plans to buy produce from that same market.

Put together, the market, the new bakery, a toast bar at Park Plaza and a bulk-food store that roasts its own coffee make a weekend-morning route that doesn't stop when the market's season does. Here's how it fits together, starting with this Saturday.

Saturday, October 31: the market's final morning of 2026

The market opened this year on April 25 and runs Saturdays only, 8 a.m. to noon. The 2026 schedule published in the Annapolis Moms guide to area farmers markets puts the last day at October 31 and lists no winter season.

October 31 is also Halloween, so the morning will probably get busier as the day goes on. If you have a favorite vendor, go early. The market closes at noon, and after that you won't see them at Jones Station Road again until next spring.

For people who shop the market every week, this closing date matters more than usual. A new bakery a few minutes away has said it plans to buy from the market once it reopens.

The bakery its owners said was missing

Y'ollk Bakery celebrated its grand opening on September 19 at 489 Ritchie Highway, Suite 101. The building used to be retail space, so the kitchen and storefront had to be built out from the ground up. Co-owner Basaran "Bas" Mulgan managed that construction.

The owners explained why they chose Severna Park in an interview with the Severna Park Voice. "I wanted to (open) in Severna Park because we don't have a local bakery – like, artisan, where you make everything from scratch, intentional. Like you put your heart into it," co-owner Marie Cris Garay told the paper.

The two owners met while working at a catering company. According to the Voice, Garay moved to the U.S. in 2015, took cooking classes at Anne Arundel Community College and found her calling in cake decorating during a baking and pastry class. She lives in Arnold. Mulgan has been in the States since 2012. He cooked at The Ritz-Carlton, Grand Cayman, and has worked alongside French and Michelin-starred chefs.

The name combines egg yolks, a basic baking ingredient, with "y'all." The owners say it's meant to show the bakery is for everyone.

What's on the counter

The Voice describes French-inspired baking with Filipino and Turkish flavors mixed in.

  • Ube and coconut in rolls and donuts. Garay grew up eating ube, a mildly sweet purple yam, almost every day in the Philippines.
  • Tombul, a spread the owners created that's made in Maryland. It pairs Turkish hazelnuts with cocoa and goes into some of the bakery's original pastries.
  • Macarons, cake pops, cinnamon rolls and brioche donuts for something sweet. The owners say they hold back on sugar on purpose.
  • Biscuits and handcrafted sandwiches for something savory, with more Mediterranean flavors planned, according to Mulgan.
  • A full espresso menu.

Garay told the Voice that the pastries are made fresh every day in small batches and nothing is frozen. She also said she plans to buy produce from the Severna Park farmers market and keep preservatives and food dyes to a minimum. The market closes for the season on October 31, but it's due to reopen in spring, and the bakery plans to be one of its customers.

According to the October 1 report, Y'ollk was open on a temporary schedule, Wednesday through Sunday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The bakery was still hiring and expects about 16 employees once fully staffed. Those hours were described as temporary, so check the bakery's Facebook or Instagram before you go.

A 7 a.m. option at Park Plaza

Y'ollk opens at 9. For an earlier start, Toastique opened at Park Plaza, 580 Ritchie Highway, Suite K, and the Severna Park Voice reported its ribbon cutting on September 18. The location's own page lists daily hours of 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Toastique started in Washington, D.C., in 2018. According to The Daily Record, the Severna Park franchise belongs to local residents Allyson and Mo Jishi. They also own the Toastique at Annapolis Town Center, which opened in May 2024, so this is the second one in Anne Arundel County. The menu has sweet and savory toasts such as Avocado Smash, Smoked Salmon and PB Crunch. The Severna Park page also lists smoothie and açaí bowls, cold-pressed juices, smoothies and espresso drinks.

Toastique and Y'ollk suit different kinds of mornings. Toastique is the early, lighter choice and is open every day. Y'ollk is the later stop for pastries, open five days a week for now. Together, a weekend morning in Severna Park can start at 7 a.m. and go well past the market's noon closing.

Bulk goods and coffee roasted in-house

Coffee beans and a bookshop on wheels at BD Provisions

The bakery and the toast bar are the new arrivals. BD Provisions at 844 Ritchie Highway, Suite 101, is a good stop for the rest of the morning's errands. The store calls itself a low-waste and zero-waste bulk-food shop, and it roasts coffee on-site. If you've already had your latte, you can buy a bag of beans for home in the same trip, and you can bring your own containers to fill.

BD Provisions also hosted a new local business this summer. Sweet Escape Bookshop is a mobile bookstore. Its grand opening and ribbon cutting took place at the store on August 16, according to the Severna Park Voice event listing, with a 12:30 p.m. ribbon cutting during a noon-to-4 open house. The Voice's later coverage describes it as a bookstore that travels. Its pop-up stops are posted on the calendar at sweetescapebookshop.com, and some are outside Severna Park, including an Artisans Market at The Gallery in Annapolis. Check the calendar to see when it's back in Severna Park.

After October 31: where Saturday produce goes for the winter

With the Jones Station Road market closed, the closest year-round option is the Anne Arundel County Farmers Market at Riva Road and Harry S. Truman Parkway in Annapolis. Its own site lists these 2026 hours:

  1. Saturdays, April 4 through December 31, 2026, 7 a.m. to noon.
  2. Sundays, 9 a.m. to noon all year, including a winter market from January through March.

From November on, produce means a drive to Riva Road. Pastries and coffee are still close to home on Ritchie Highway.

In past years, the Severna Park market has held a Christmas Market in December. The Severna Park Voice reported that the 2024 event was planned for a Saturday in mid-December with more than 20 vendors. To find out whether it returns in 2026, watch the market's own channels.

A route to try this Saturday

Here's a way to string these stops together on the market's last morning of the year.

  • 7 a.m. Get a toast and a juice at Toastique in Park Plaza.
  • 8 a.m. Be at the Park & Ride on Jones Station Road when the market opens, and say goodbye to your regular vendors until spring.
  • 9 a.m. or later Stop at Y'ollk for an ube-coconut roll or a pastry made with Tombul, and pick up a box for the afternoon.
  • On the way home Fill your containers and buy a bag of house-roasted beans at BD Provisions.

Starting Saturday, November 7, swap the market stop for Riva Road, or skip produce that week and take a longer bakery stop instead.

If you're a Severna Park neighbor and the new places on Ritchie Highway have you thinking about what else is changing nearby, I'd be glad to talk about it over a cinnamon roll. I'm Kristen Boyer, and I enjoy hearing what people love about their weekends here. Let's Connect.
